The Arava Institute...

The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies (AIES) is the premier environmental teaching and research program in the Middle East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve the region's environmental challenges. Its unique undergraduate and graduate educational experience brings together students from across the region and around the world. Its goal is to create an active, skilled workforce that meets the urgent environmental needs of the Mideast through peaceful cooperation.

AIES couples rigorous coursework in science and technology with an innovative Peace-Building and Environmental Leadership Seminar (PELS). . PELS engages and trains AIES students in cross-cultural cooperation through daily, open dialogue in their respective ethnic, historical and religious diversities. Today, nearly 500 Arava Institute alumni are actively working together throughout the Mideast, and beyond, to create a safe, healthful environment. But this is just the beginning.

...and its Friends.

The Friends of the Arava Institute is the fundraising arm of AIES. Our goal is to insure the Institute's continued success and growth through effective fundraising and public awareness campaigns. As a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the Friends provides funding for the operational and educational expenses of the Arava Institute.

Your support helps train new leaders to solve the region's environmental problems while creating a true path toward peace and stability.
